Futuristic plan brings in the win
16 Aug 2011
Frucor Account Executive, Ian Blomfield, wowed crowds and won a top prize at the New Zealand Association of Convenience Stores (NZACS) awards last week.
Ian presented a compelling business case using futurist ideas to the NZACS Committee and an audience of around 100 people last Thursday night, winning him the Peter Jowett Sponsorship Award and a trip to Chicago.
To enter the competition Ian was asked to "present a business plan to implement ideas that will generate greater sales, community profile and profits for the Convenience Store."
What Ian came up with was a three pronged plan that would ultimately save customers time and increase profit for the convenience store.
The first part included new mobile technology that would recognise the customer at the pump, offer them food deals as well as engage them with opportunities to join in the sponsorship efforts of the convenience store.
The second part of the plan was to set up Tourist hot desks at the stores, which would give tourists information about attractions and obviously offer them deals they can purchase in store.
Finally Ian proposed that farmers market style top up shops could be set up which would encourage customers to do their quick shops in store rather than heading to a local supermarket.
Ian's dynamic presentation style and innovative content saw him absolutely excel versus the three other finalists who presented on the night. As the winner Ian will be off to the NACS Conference in Chicago 1st to 4th October where he will once again present in front of an international audience!
Frucor wins it big
On the same night Frucor was also officially awarded as best Head Office and best Overall Supplier to the NZACS. Giving them three out of the eight supplier awards that were presented at the event - a huge achievement for Frucor.
